We did it!
Our first full day at our mission sites today, and it was a blast!
We started our morning with breakfast and worship before we boarded our buses and were off to our mission sites!
Our campers are divided up into two different mission sites, Turning Points in Bradenton, and RCMA in Wimauma. Everyone had a great time!!
The group that went to Turning Points did a lot of awesome work today! They even found Fr. Bryan from our high school camp week and helped him fix some bikes!!! There was lots of sorting to be done and other organizing all over the facility.
Its pretty safe to say that all of the campers who went to RCMA fell in love with all of the kids there! The staff was so welcoming and we jumped right in to help out with the children who were there. In the afternoon during their naptime, we went to the outdoor play area and pulled some weeds, and cleaned up so the kids could have lots of fun outside!
We arrived back at camp around 2:30 and spent some siesta time in our cabins, then we had camper’s choice activities and camper free time before dinner.
After dinner we sat down with Michele Perry and learned more about her adventures in Sudan. We talked about mission work and how so much of the time it can be really exciting, but how important it is to also find God in the not so exciting times. We are changing lives every day, even when we don’t realize it!
Our evening activity was a campfire with s’mores, and it was AWESOME! It rained pretty hard this afternoon, but the sky was so clear tonight that you could see so many stars!
Off to bed for everyone now to get some rest before our second day working at the mission sites! Lots of cool things planned and we are so ready to help out!
Remember you can email your camper at email@example.com. Please include your child’s name as the subject, and keep in mind that anything sent after noon on Thursday may not be delivered.
We are looking forward to sharing more about our week with you on Friday at our closing Eucharist at 1pm in the New Pavilion at DaySpring.
