High School Mission Camp is off to a great start! We jumped right in on Sunday evening talking about who the church is, what the role of the church is, and what the mission of the church is. We met in our groups that are going out together to sites during the mission days, and talked about what that would like and some things to be prepared for as we leave the camp property each day.
Our evening activity was rained out, so we played some fun games inside together before heading back to our cabins for the evening to get settled in.
Monday morning brought three groups separating out for the day to work in various areas of the community. Two of the groups went to Our Daily Bread, a food ministry in Bradenton, where campers and counselors sorted donations of food in the pantry that the organization uses to have members of the community go shop for things they may be in need of. After that, the two groups went to Benison Farm in St. Petersburg, which is a community farm placed in the midst of a food desert. This is not their growing season, but the campers were able to learn about some of the need in the area (and play with the chickens) while they explored the property and discovered some of the things that are grown there throughout the year.
The third group went to a site in Brandon that receives donations and sorts them out to help distribute throughout the community. This group had the chance to interact with some of the clients as well as support the volunteers who work there regularly.
Tuesday is the day we have scheduled to stay on DaySpring property and do some of our camp activities before heading back out on Wednesday and Thursday and switching around sites.

Please note that they will roll out a little differently this week as we collect pictures from the various sites.
Our closing slideshow and announcements will begin at 11am on Friday, and camper pick up is scheduled for 11:30am.
Don’t forget to email your camper a note at CampBunkNotes@gmail.com and include their name as the subject line for proper delivery.
