2017 Elementary Camp – First Full Day!

Written by:

Today was a good day! What a wild ride already! Elementary Week is always so interesting because there is always such a variety of experiences with our campers. Β Some have stayed the night away from home before, some haven’t. Some have been to camp before, some haven’t. Some have been to camp already this summer, and some are meeting this place and staff for the first time…but we’re doing it all together!

This morning after breakfast, we had morning worship and then headed down to the waterfront for canoeing! Once we were done with canoes we spent some time cooling off in the pool πŸ™‚

After lunch and siesta we had chapel and craft time! In chapel everyone got their camp buddies today (you can find them in some of the following pictures) and at craft, the campers did bubble painting. A thunderstorm passed through during this time so we had to extend out inside time a bit, and then we watched part of the Minion Movie before dinner because it wasn’t ideal to be outside. We also played a game of freeze dance to pass the time inside.

We also had the privilege of celebrating one of our favorite Junior Counselor’s 17th birthday with her today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTEN!

After dinner we had our last drum circle of the summer!!! It was so cool! Shout out to Jana with Drum Magic (drummagic.net) she really knows how to make things fun! (Side note: If you’re looking for something fun to do with a larger group, she’s the best!)

After that it was time to wrap up our evening with Compline around the campfire πŸ™‚

Don’t forget to email your camper at campbunknotes@gmail.com! They love getting their mail in the evenings. Thursday at noon is the cutoff time for guaranteed delivery of their bunk notes.

Join us for our friends and family Closing Eucharist on Friday morning at 11am in the Program Center at DaySpring. Camper pickup is 12pm.
