Activities
DaySpring Summer Camp is more than a church camp. It’s a wide variety of activities, carefully planned, so that kids experience a week of joyful freedom walking in Christ’s love. From our breezy country setting on the Manatee River, we have a full slate of activities planned for each week-long camp session.
Sports and Outdoors
Freestyle and supervised sports are central to the program. The DaySpring staff work with accredited groups such as Pathfinder Outdoor Education to run a safe and structured outdoor program using our equipment both on the river and in the ropes course. In addition, the DaySpring campus has a wide variety of “pick-up” sports activities that are unstructured, but supervised. Sports programs include:
- Basketball
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- Giant “mongo” slip and slide
- Canoeing program on the Manatee River
- Youth programs on high ropes, low ropes and zip lines
Old School Fun
Our goal is to keep it all fun. Often, the simplest games have been the most popular. Each year, we include:
- Flashlight tag
- Old-style games (our “Summer Olympics” with relay races, egg toss, pudding toss)
- Arts education (jewelry, crafts, tie dyeing)
Evening Entertainment
Music and arts are an important part of the program, not only with our services and worship, but also highlighting the talents of youth participants. Students are encouraged to bring their musical gifts and instruments and are asked to share their talents. Activities include:
- Old time Hootenanny evening with country dancing
- Talent show and skits with counselors
- Campfires with s’mores
